Plane Crash Exercise (write a news report using the information give about a Continental plane crashing):
A continental plane has crashed on the house of 312 Main Street which was the home of Jim and Janet Jones. At 10:05pm there was a report of an explosion. It was reported to have sounded like a pop, bang, and wine sound. There are no survivors from the plan and neighbors have reported that Jim and Janet Jones have not been seen. A neighbor has also reported that they saw the daughter of the Jones go into the house earlier tonight before the crash.
Notes of Advice from Manny

Corral Gables Exercise (write a news report using the information given to you about the Corral Gables high school shooting):
A 17 year old junior at Corral Gables High School has been stabbed to death. It is confirmed that the attacker who stabbed him is also a 17 year old junior at the high school; he has been taken to the police headquarters for questioning. The victim was stabbed with a box cutter, the motive is not yet confirmed but students are saying it was over an argument about a girl they both liked. The 17 year old is now charged with second degree murder and will be held at the Juvenal detention center until tomorrow morning for a court hearing, no names are being released as of right now.

-On background means you are asked not to use a certain name
-You should always be careful about documents you are given (verify information)
-Make sure information is accurate
-Don’t except meals or gifts from sources
-Don’t date sources
-Don’t accept a job from a source
-Never alter photos or videos that change the context
-Photos and videos need to be accurate and in the right context
-You should develop empathy
