Interview Basics

  • You should talk to the subject before interviewing them, this will help the subject feel less nervous.
  • Try your best to be prepared.
  • Make sure equipment is working properly.
  • Don’t read questions, instead make conversation more natural.
  • Make the interview a comfortable conversation.
  • Make sure you don’t ask yes or no questions.
  • Feel free to interupt if needed.
  • Make questions short and clear.
  • After the interview thank and ask the subject how they think the interview went.
  • Practice makes perfect.

  • Ambient sounds can be a good thing.
  • You can do the interview and then record the background noise seperately.
  • A good interview takes energy.
  • Look at the person when you talk to them.
  • Ask two questions at a time if you want a better statement from the subject.
  • Ask open-ended questions.
  • Silence is important.
  • Know how to use the equipment you are using.
  • Be completely silent when the subject is speaking.
  • Be aware of natural sound.
  • Wear headphones.
  • Don’t hesitate to ask the speaker to repeat what they said.
